Merik, Inc. provides building construction consulting services primarily for existing buildings. Our clientele is composed of state and local government agencies, the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia, Georgia's K-12 School Systems and private companies.
Merik is a small business specializing in solving problems of moisture infiltration within building envelope systems. The technical staff includes Registered Roof Consultants, Architectural and LEED AP staff, Registered Roof Observers, Field Testing Agents, BE Commissioning Agents, and Professional Engineers.
Patrick L. Downey is President of Merik, Inc. and has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, ranging from product development to the management of two material manufacturing companies. He is a Fellow and Past President of RCI, the Institute of Roofing, Waterproofing and Building Envelope professionals. Mr. Downey has been certified as a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), the Institute's highest level of technical achievement.
He is Past President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute and is certified as Construction Contract Administrator (CCA). He was awarded the Institute's "Advancement of Construction Technology Award", at the 1998 National Convention. Mr. Downey was the founding President of the Georgia Chapter Roof Consultants Institute and is currently serving as the industry liaison between the Roof Consultant's Institute (RCI) and the Construction Specification Institute (CSI).
Eric B. Downey is Vice President of Merik, Inc. with field responsibilities that include Construction Observation, Roof Inspections, Field Sampling, Lab Testing, and Roof Surveys.
Eric is certified as a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), having successfully completed the educational and testing requirements of the Roof Consultants Institute. He is a graduate of Kennesaw State University.
Terry Hale is a technical field representative with duties that include construction observation and field surveys and testing. Terry has been working with roof and wall systems for over 25 years. His experience included maintenance as well as the inspection of roofing and waterproofing contractors' work. Terry is certified as a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), having successfully completed the educational and testing requirements of the Roof Consultants Institute.
Rosanna Rennie is a Architectural Designer and LEED AP with project management responsibilities that include roof and wall investigations, condition surveys and reporting, specification design, construction drawings, construction contract administration, quality assurance observation, and LEED certification projects.
Her architectural background allows us to address design aesthetics and unique design opportunities can be analyzed through her expertise. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Southern Polytechnic State University.
